On Saturday, August 17, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde officially launched the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana, a new initiative aimed at empowering women in the state by providing them with financial assistance. Under this scheme, more than 1 crore women in Maharashtra will receive ₹1500 per month as direct financial aid.
Objective of Ladki Bahin Yojana
The Ladki Bahin Yojana has been introduced with the goal of financially supporting women across Maharashtra, helping them become more economically independent and secure. During the launch, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde released the first installment of this aid, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises. He stated, “We have kept our promise by providing ₹3,000 to women beneficiaries whose bank details have been verified.”
Eligibility Criteria
The Ladki Bahin Yojana is designed to benefit women who meet specific eligibility criteria:
- Residency: Only women who are residents of Maharashtra are eligible.
- Age: Beneficiaries must be between 21 and 65 years of age.
- Marital Status: The scheme is open to married, unmarried, deserted, divorced, and destitute women.
- Bank Account: Applicants must have a bank account in their name.
- Income: The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.

How to Apply for Ladki Bahin Yojana
Women can apply for the Ladki Bahin Yojana through both online and offline methods:
- Offline Application: Applicants can visit Anganwadi workers, supervisors, gram sevaks, ward officers, City Mission Managers (CMM), or other designated local authorities to apply. The application forms are also available at government service centers.
- Online Application: Those who prefer to apply online can do so through the official government portal. The online application process is facilitated at government service centers, where applicants can submit their forms without any registration fee.
