Citroen Basalt X India Launch On September 5: Premium Coupe-SUV With Feature Upgrades

Citroen India is gearing up to launch the Basalt X in the Indian market on September 5, 2025. The coupe-SUV will be available for bookings at a token amount of ₹11,000, reflecting the French automaker’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the country.

The Basalt X has been teased for weeks ahead of its official debut, creating buzz among enthusiasts. Notably, this launch comes after the introduction of the C3X, which was essentially an upgraded hatchback variant. Much like the C3X, the Basalt X is expected to receive similar enhancements, while staying true to the design DNA of the standard Basalt.

What’s New in the Citroen Basalt X?

Although the Basalt X will carry a distinct ‘Basalt X’ badge, there are no major cosmetic updates anticipated. Citroen is retaining its recognizable design language, color palette, and styling elements from the regular Basalt.

Instead, the X variant is set to position itself as a premium trim, sitting above the existing lineup. This means buyers can expect a more feature-rich package, blending style with modern tech and safety enhancements.

Citroen Basalt X Expected Features:

According to early information and NDTV reports, the Basalt X will pack in all the bells and whistles Citroen can offer in this segment:

10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay

7-inch color TFT digital cluster

Automatic climate control

Wireless phone charging

Cruise control

Push-button engine start/stop

Leatherette dashboard finish for a premium cabin feel

360-degree surround view camera (segment highlight)

Safety Package

Citroen continues to prioritize safety with a well-rounded suite, including:

Six airbags

ABS with EBD

ESP (Electronic Stability Program)

Hill hold assist

Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)

Engine & Performance

The Basalt X will likely retain the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, the same unit seen in the standard Basalt. This motor delivers 108 bhp and up to 205 Nm of torque, depending on the transmission. Customers can expect a balanced mix of performance and fuel efficiency, tailored for city driving as well as highway cruising.
